Diners are being offered free brick sets to build at their tables at a restaurant and late-night bar described as world-first, opening in Melbourne’s east on Thursday.
Brick Valley Yum Cha & Bar will open at The Glen Shopping Centre in Glen Waverley, where guests who order a drink after 9pm will receive a brick set to build at their table, which is collected afterwards.
The venue is billed as a brick-themed experience rather than an official LEGO venture, with walls lined with thousands of collectable building kits, including rare and discontinued sets and large-scale Technic-style supercars.

Owner Donny Chen said the idea was to give diners more than a standard meal.
“People don’t just want food anymore,” Mr Chen said.
“They want an experience.
“This combines creativity with Cantonese dining culture in a way families, collectors and casual diners can all enjoy.”
Mr Chen said the displays were designed to grab attention from the moment guests arrived, ranging from premium vehicle builds and collector favourites to shelves packed across multiple themes.

“It’s immersive,” he said.
“There are pieces here you don’t usually see outside private collections.”
The restaurant will serve traditional Cantonese yum cha from midmorning, including classics such as har gow, siu mai, steamed buns and rice noodle rolls, alongside an extensive tea selection central to the yum cha tradition.
In the evening, it will switch to a Cantonese dinner offering before shifting into a late-night bar format after 9pm, when diners can keep the night moving with a drink and a build at the table.

The concept has already drawn interest from Melbourne’s building community, with former LEGO Masters contestants attending a soft opening ahead of the launch.
Mr Chen said LEGO Masters judge Ryan McNaught also known Brickman was invited but had a prior commitment, adding the judge had expressed interest in visiting in future.
The venue sits inside The Glen’s Terrace dining precinct at 235 Springvale Rd and the centre offers three hours free parking, making it easy for families and groups to drop in.
