New research has revealed that agritourism is delivering some of the strongest fundamentals in Australian tourism, with the $20.3 billion sector encompassing everything from winery visits, farm stays, food markets and Indigenous food experiences.

It now accounts for 14% of total tourism spending in Australia, Ray White Commercial head of research Vanessa Rader said.
“More importantly, the visitors engaging with these experiences are spending significantly more and staying longer than average travellers, creating compelling opportunities for commercial property investors willing to look beyond the major capitals,” she said.

“It’s been an active oyster farm for the last 20 to 30 years – it’s been within the same family.”
The son has made the decision to sell the business and if the new buyers had no experience in oyster farming, he is prepared to run the new owners through a season to show them how it works.
