The Gladysdale eco-retreat where Force of Nature: The Dry 2 was filmed, about 85 minutes’ drive to Melbourne’s CBD, is for sale.

A luxury Yarra Valley eco-retreat where a movie starring Eric Bana, Deborra-Lee Furness and Richard Roxburgh was filmed has hit the market.

Force of Nature: The Dry 2 was shot at the 52.61ha property named Hazeldene that’s for sale with a $4.2m-$4.6m range.

The 2024 mystery thriller was a sequel to the hit flick The Dry, and was based on best-selling author Jane Harper’s award-winning novel Force of Nature.

Actors Anna Torv, Jacqueline McKenzie, Tony Briggs and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor were also part of the movie’s cast.

The film’s plot followed Bana’s character, an Australian federal police officer, investigating a woman’s disappearance at a corporate retreat in the fictional Giralang Ranges.

Hazeldene, at 430-450 Hazeldene Rd, Gladysdale, was used as the lodge setting on the big screen.

Surrounded by native forest, parklands and landscaped gardens, the curved eight-bedroom building serves as a conference and events centre in addition to an accommodation venue.

helipad and walking trails.

“It’s really well set-up, the property overlooks the lake in a very private and secluded position,” Mr Hill said.

“You cannot see any neighbours, it’s tucked away and the resort itself is at the end of a long driveway – it’s very peaceful, surrounded by native woodland and it’s just an idyllic spot.”

He’s expecting a Melbourne-based buyer to snap up the site which could also be run as a wellness or yoga retreat, wedding venue or a private escape for a large or multi-generational family.

Hazeldene is a 30 minute drive to Healesville and 40 minutes to Coldstream and Lilydale.

Each of the eight bedrooms has its own ensuite, while the main hub includes two open-plan living and dining areas with fireplaces, a commercial kitchen and media room.

Hazeldene’s environmental credentials are enhanced by a solar water heating and solar photovoltaic system that converts sunlight into electricity, its 13.5kW battery backup, a 140,000 litre rainwater storage system, and an irrigation licence.

The property is close to wineries, restaurants and attractions including the Warburton rail trail and bike park, Mt Donna Buang and Mt Baw Baw.

“There’s a manager’s cottage too and there is a manager and his wife who look after the property, they’re keen to continue on,” Mr Hill said.

The eco-retreat’s furniture will be included in the sale which is being conducted via expressions of interest.
