Construction will soon begin on a new $6m Maccas that’s being served up in Melbourne’s outer south east.
The golden arches will be coming to Riverland Rd, Clyde, complete with a dual-lane drive-through, McCafé, playground and a room for food couriers to collect deliveries.
The 24/7 restaurant will create more than 260 jobs for employees and construction workers.
McDonald’s Australia already has two shopfronts in the Clyde region which employ more than 290 people.

McDonald’s Victoria regional director Alex Carapetis said the takeaway giant was currently looking to hire workers for crew, barista, management and maintenance roles not only at the future restaurant, to be known as McDonald’s Clyde East, but for outlets across Victoria.
“This new restaurant reflects the growth we’re seeing in the Clyde area, and our ambition to continue investing in communities where there is strong demand from local customers,” Mr Carapetis said.

According to demographic data company Informed Decisions, Cylde’s population is set to grow from 26,918 residents in 2026 to reach 78,264 residents by 2046.
Nearby Clyde North is forecast to boom from 68,506 people to 114,070 people in the same time frame.
“McDonald’s Clyde East is committed to playing an active role in the local community through providing jobs, training and development opportunities, as well as supporting local causes and groups that are important to our customers and people,” Mr Carapetis said.
“We look forward to serving up our great tasting, great quality menu when the restaurant opens later this year.”

McDonald’s first opened in Australia about 55 years ago, with the first restaurant located in Sydney.
The $6m budget for McDonald’s Clyde East includes real estate, construction and operational costs.
Australia’s first Maccas restaurant opened in Yagoona, Sydney, in 1971, while today there are more than 1070 McDonald’s across the nation.
The organisation employs more than 115,000 people in restaurants and corporate offices Australia-wide.
