Adrian Portelli will fold his planned supermarket play into LMCT+’s existing $99 fuel membership, turning the discount petrol offer into a broader grocery savings club.
The billionaire and rewards club founder told followers the company’s petrol saver membership would be renamed the “Everyday Saver” membership, giving shoppers access to both LMCT+ petrol stations and supermarkets.
The update comes after Mr Portelli revealed Melbourne’s west would be home to his first supermarket, with the store understood to be IGA Deer Park.

“I’ve been seeing a lot of questions about people asking how the supermarkets are going to work in regards to the membership,” Mr Portelli said in a video posted to Instagram.
“We’re all in this together, right? We’re tinkering in uncharted territory.
“So it’s fun. We get to take our community along for the road and figure our business together and how it’s going to work.”
Mr Portelli said LMCT+ would not create a separate supermarket pass, instead folding the grocery offer into the existing fuel membership.
“We’ve got the petrol saver membership,” he said.
“We’re going to incorporate the supermarkets into that membership as well and change the name from a petrol saver membership to an everyday saver membership.
“So your $99 will get you access to both the supermarkets and the petrol stations.”

Mr Portelli said existing members would receive instant access to the supermarkets and petrol stations, as well as higher in-store discounts depending on their membership tier.
“For our current LMCT+ members, on the other side, you’ll get instant access to the supermarkets and the petrol station, as well as a higher tier of discounts inside the supermarket,” he said.
“So there’ll be better savings for the three tiers of LMCT+ membership that you’ll be able to enjoy, as well as the petrol stations where you get your tier discounts in shop as well.”
He said the changes would roll out in the “next week or two”.

The update sparked a fresh wave of requests from followers keen to see the model expand beyond Melbourne’s west.
“Absolute legend!! Love it! Looking forward to all this coming to Sydney!” one follower wrote.
Another asked whether the supermarkets would include “a butcher and bakery all that jazz”, with the official LMCT+ account replying: “Appreciate the support and yes there will be soon.”
One shopper asked for petrol stations and supermarkets in Melbourne’s southeast suburbs, with LMCT+ responding: “Yes soon! Stay tuned.”

The announcement also drew comments about RS Rewards, after both businesses separately teased member-based supermarket plays.
“Waiting for RS Rewards to announce the exact same in 3, 2, 1 …” one follower wrote.
Mr Portelli said LMCT+ was moving into different sectors while trying to make essentials more affordable.

“We enjoy pushing the boundaries and innovating and moving into different sectors and applying our technology into different industries and making it fun for everyone and most importantly affordable,” he said.
The company has not confirmed an opening date for the supermarket.
